These Aren't Actually Parks: Berkshire Park, Shanes Park

After the election shenanigans, we now return to your regular programming.

You know it's about to get real when we have a 2-for-1 post. We're still in the city's northwest and I think you could even argue that we're in the Outer West. What you can't argue against though is that there ain't much out here.

Berkshire Park

One of the great things about this blog is that I'm heading to places I've never even heard of before. Berkshire Park, (not to be confused with Warren Buffett's company, Berkshire Hathaway) sits immediately northwest of Marsden Park and is my first foray into the Penrith Council area.

For me, this was just a turn off of Richmond Road onto a long and straight Sydney-by-Technicalty-esque road, lined with gumtrees.

I think the type of businesses on the side of the road tell most of the story:

A bird farm,

and somewhere to buy ducks and chickens (I'll take twelve).

This piece of the northwest is yet to be discovered by the real-estate developers, and as a result is still quite rural.

One farm even had these beautiful animals. Is that an ox?

There's also this Guard Dog Training Centre that my friend once accidentally applied for a job for online, thinking it was a Guide Dog Training Centre. For what it's worth, their website is kind of terrifying.

I wasn't sure whether to call this post a "Sydney by Technicality" or not. On one hand, they have a Rural Fire Service,

on the other hand, it's really not that far from real suburbs.

That's kind of it for Berkshire Park.

Berkshire Park: Between the bulls and the guard dogs, be sure to keep yourself on the right side of the fence.

Shanes Park

Continue driving south through Berkshire Park and you hit the park of Shane.

I'm not sure what you're expecting, but it's really more of the same here.

Shanes Park is the place to be, whether you've got sheep and cows in your backyard,

or if your pet dog is best mates with a goose.

Acreages galore.

Don't worry, we'll get back to doing suburbs with things in it soon.

Shanes Park: Who's Shane and why does he have such an assortment of pets?
