It's been some time since we've enjoyed the unspoiled sands of the Northern Beaches. Let's go.

Avalon Beach

We return for another instalment of the suburbs of Ku Ring Gai Chase. For this one, I'm covering Ku Ring Gai Chase itself, which, similar to the Royal National Park from a few weeks ago, is both a national park and a suburb. This means I can enjoy some world class bushwalking and pretend I'm working.

And similar to the Royal National Park, Ku Ring Gai Chase is a huge park with trails, bushland, beaches, Aboriginal artefacts and stunning views. For this visit, I've just touched a tiny portion, but at the end of this post I'll share some more links if you want to check out this place for yourself.

Ku Ring Gai Chase

As I mentioned in my last post, Ku Ring Gai Chase National Park has seven suburbs embedded in it, six of which have no road access. Doing my best to visit every damn suburb, here are three of those isolated six.

McCarrs Creek

For these next couple of posts, we're heading into Ku Ring Gai Chase National Park, a big-ole patch of bush in the north of the city. You may not know this (I didn't) but this national park actually has seven suburbs encased within it (eight, if you count Ku Ring Gai Chase itself). Of those seven, only one has road access. This is that one.

Cottage Point

Here's yet another North Shore spot with fancy houses and incredible views of the city.

Cremorne Point

Cremorne Point neighbours my previous suburb of Kurraba Point. The best way to enter the suburb is using this swoopy street.

Like many of Sydney's prettiest suburbs, Cremorne Point greets you with plenty of green,

weird and wonderful houses,

often with European metal parked outside.

But that's not really the star of the Cremorne Point show. Instead, starting from this park bench,

is Cremorne Reserve, a park hugging the entire peninsula that makes up Cremorne Point.

Thankfully, there's an easy walking path right from the start.

Cremorne Reserve is a great example of something Sydney does amazingly well - including green space in amongst suburbia.

This means that while you stroll through the apparent bushland,

you'll see houses on the other cliffs through the clearing of the trees.

As well as the relatively distant homes of other cliffs, Cremorne Point also offers its own residents cliff-side living on the edge of this parkland.

This quasi-natural environment also means you might see an interesting bird or two, such as this lovely Christmas-specced fellow.

Continuing on, you find more of the same. Bushy walking paths,

wonderful views,

and homes that nobody reading this can afford.

It's also worth calling out that Cremore Reserve isn't entirely bushland. It also boasts grassy areas for a picnic with a view,

a public swimming pool,

and fancier dwellings the further down I got.

Bonus brush turkeys.

While the reserve does hug the entire penisula all the way around, there's a ferry wharf roughly on Cremorne Point's southern tip. This seemed like a logical place to end my lovely little stroll through this suburb, so I continued onward towards the wharf.
