An attempt to visit every suburb in Sydney.

The End of the Line: Laughtondale, Singletons Mill (Sydney by Technicality XIIX)

Here are two suburbs which are about as Sydney by Technicality as it gets.

Laughtondale

If you hug the Hawkesbury River east from Wisemans Ferry, along the narrow Singleton Road, you will cross the border into Laughtondale.

Here, you have, the occasional house plopped on a huge plot of land,

and some zany farmland too.

Still pretty though.

As you continue down the more-or-less single road through town, the road narrows,

eventually requiring you to pull over onto the dirt to allow oncoming traffic to pass,

before turning into gravel.

Normally, this would've been enough to call it a suburb and head back,

but there was somehow one more suburb to check off, another 2km down this unpaved, riverside road.

This one lane bridge is where Laughtondale ends and the next suburb begins.

Laughtondale: The long road to nowhere.

Singletons Mill

So take that long journey through Laughtondale, cross the bridge and where do you reach? Singletons Mill it turns out.

There didn't seem much point heading deeper into the gravel-roaded bush, so after crossing the border, I pulled over into a driveway, said "this counts" and turned the car around for the drive all the way back through Laughtondale.

Singletons Mill: If you've reached this point, you've come too far.
