Video: I Tried To Walk All The Way Across Sydney Part 2 (Completing Sydney 4 Year Anniversary Special)

Welcome back! If you didn't check out part one, take a look at that first

So this is part two of my four year anniversary special and my attempt to walk across Sydney. This instalment takes me from St Ives in Northern Sydney across 8 suburbs (5 of them new to the blog).

The Suburbs

This video takes me through 8 suburbs, 3 of which I've already covered in the blog:
  • St Ives (previously covered in 2019)
  • Pymble (previously covered in 2019)
  • Turramurra
  • Warrawee
  • Wahroonga (previously covered in 2021)
  • Thornleigh
  • Pennant Hills
  • West Pennant Hills

My thoughts on all this (spoilers below)

So as you'll see in the video, I didn't make it, tapping out after the first day.

Am I disappointed? Kind of.

Will I reattempt this? Not any time soon (but you're welcome to try and go for the glory).

Best part of the day? Taking a couple of days off work to be alone with my thoughts, as well as discovering that new (to me) bushwalk through Garigal National Park.

Worst part? The amount of cars I had to walk alongside (you'll see this a lot in part two), especially with the number of main and pedestrian unfriendly roads I found myself walking on.

Anyway, thank you for watching and for your support through these four years. By the end of this video, my count is 433 suburbs. The spreadsheet I keep says that there are 676 suburbs, which means that I'm two thirds of the way there - hooray.

I'll be back on Thursday for our regular scheduled programming.

  2. Good decision to stop! 30kms even on soft tracks is demanding. Those hard urban surfaces are killers, not just for feet but knees and hips. And the heavy traffic and missing footpaths are very demoralizing. There must be a variety of ways to link nice bush sections and occasional urban forays together in a less excruciating route. But truly interesting to see your efforts and also, see you reach a truly sensible conclusion to stop. It was agonizing as a watcher by the end! Amazing to get that far!!
